About Me
Welcome to the Eden Angler, my name is Geoff, I
have been fly fishing the rivers of the Eden Valley and the
northern lakes of the English Lakes District in pursuit of Wild
Brown Trout and Grayling for nearly 50 years.
My love affair with this great sport began when I was about 8 years old. It started with handlines, spending many happy hours catching small fish and crabs from harbour piers whilst on summer holidays. I had my first fishing rod when I was about 10: we fished the local rivers and Ullswater with worms, maggots and quill minnows. My first fly rod came when I was 14, and I have been addicted to the fly ever since.
I fish the River Eden and it's tributaries - the Eamont, Lowther - plus many small streams in the area and Ullswater. I have gained an intimate knowledge of these great waters over many years and mastered the many techniques needed to ensure success.
'The Eden Angler' began life in 2007 and I now offer guided fishing and tuition in this area of outstanding beauty. Access can be arranged to some excellent Brown Trout and Grayling fishing on various beats of the Rivers Eden, Eamont and Lowther, plus boat and bank fishing on Ullswater and Haweswater.
I can teach the methods that have proved successful for me:
upstream nymphing; Czech or short line nymph; European
nymphing; various dry fly techniques and North country
spider fishing.
In addition to providing guiding and tuition for wild
Trout and Grayling on our local rivers and lakes, I also
guide and teach on stocked fisheries in the area.
